Illustrative product configuration
Product overview
A permit designed for its display position.
A parking pass is a visible credential for a specified zone and period. Dashboard cards, hanging tags and adhesive permits need different attachment and exposure choices. Large identifiers support visual checking; scan codes require unobstructed placement. Heat, sunlight and cleaning exposure must be evaluated on the chosen construction, rather than assuming ordinary paper is weatherproof.

Recognizable zones
Color and readable dates help the checker distinguish the permitted area and period.
Attachment geometry
A dashboard card and mirror hang tag need different shapes and viewing positions.
Environment-led material
Stock choice depends on how long and where the permit remains on display.
Specifications & materials
Choose a Permit for Its Display Position
Start with finished width × height in mm; hanger slot or attachment geometry. Then compare the material and construction choices below.
Use these options to prepare your specification. Material grades, weights, thicknesses and feasible dimensions are confirmed for the quoted construction. A paper weight is not a finished thickness or a strength rating.
| Parameter | Options or Information to Supply | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Finished dimensions | Compact design example: 150 × 70 mm; A6: 105 × 148 mm | Reference formats or explicitly labeled design examples. Select by the use cases below; custom trim and final construction belong in the quotation. |
| Format and component count | One permit per unit; versions by zone and validity period | Count issued credentials by batch; matched ticket and stub form one unit, with inclusive serial ranges and voids listed separately. |
| Material | Card, synthetic or adhesive construction subject to review | Describe sunlight, heat, moisture and required duration rather than assuming ordinary card will last. |
| Attachment | Mirror slot, dashboard placement or specified adhesive application | Provide the actual fitting dimensions or a reference sample. |
| Permit data | Date, zone, lot, permit ID and any scan code | Check visibility from the intended inspection position. |
| Finish | Surface treatment compatible with exposure and scanning | Assess the finished configuration; printing alone does not establish outdoor durability. |

Keep the Permit Visible in Its Working Environment
Focus the review on display fit, identifier visibility and performance under the specified exposure.

01 / SELECTION CHECK
Fit the actual display position
Check slot or attachment dimensions against the fixture and viewing angle. A nominal hang-tag outline does not prove it will sit correctly on the intended mirror or remain readable through a windshield.
02 / SELECTION CHECK
Evaluate exposure and checking together
State duration, heat, sunlight and moisture conditions. Trial the proposed material and printed code in the installed position rather than treating a paper sample or generic finish as an outdoor-performance guarantee.
Vehicle display & access-control planning
Make the permit readable from outside the vehicle and hard to misplace
Parking passes may be displayed on a dashboard, attached to glass or checked by staff. Specify the display method, validity, vehicle information and inspection distance before choosing the pass shape or adding a code.
Compare dimensions and usable space
Published reference formats and labeled design examples, with their selection notes.
Compact design example · 150 × 70 mm
Credential design example; prioritize zone, date and visible ID. Attachment geometry comes from the actual display fixture.

- Compact design example: 150 × 70 mm. Credential design example; prioritize zone, date and visible ID. Attachment geometry comes from the actual display fixture.
- A6: 105 × 148 mm. More visible identifier area; assess dashboard or hanging orientation without obstructing the driver’s view.

Select the material by its finished behavior
A hanging card, dashboard sheet and adhesive window permit require different constructions. Paper card may suit short indoor use; extended heat, sunlight or moisture exposure requires a specifically evaluated material. Slot fit and identifier visibility belong in the finished sample.
Production checks that prevent avoidable rework
Design for the actual display surface
Confirm whether the pass is placed behind a windshield, hung from a mirror or attached elsewhere. Check glare, orientation and visibility from the outside.
Keep validation details immediately legible
Show the date range, zone or access class in a consistent location. If a barcode is used, test it from the expected viewing or scanning position.
Check attachment and removal
Test any adhesive, slot, hanging hole or perforated section on the intended surface or holder. Do not assume a label adhesive is suitable for vehicle glass or paint.
Use-case selection
Choose a configuration for the job it has to do
Temporary event parking
Use a high-contrast event/date identifier and a distribution plan for each access zone.
Trade-off: Temporary details can be copied; printed passes alone do not prevent misuse.
Recurring facility permit
Include a clear period, permit class and optional visible serial for staff checks.
Trade-off: Long validity increases the need for replacement and revocation controls.
Visitor dashboard pass
Choose a display format that remains readable through glass without obstructing the driver's view.
Trade-off: Placement and visibility rules vary by facility and jurisdiction.
Problem → cause → solution
Resolve the failure points before production
The permit curls or loses adhesion in use
Why it happens: Indoor handling was used to judge a dashboard or window application.
How to prevent it: Test the intended material and attachment on the real display surface under the expected exposure; keep pass details visible without obstructing the driver.
Serial ranges overlap between batches
Why it happens: A new file was generated without a controlled issued-range manifest.
How to prevent it: Record start and end identifiers for each batch. Reconcile duplicates, omissions and any deliberately voided numbers before pack-out.
Alternative formats
When another construction is a better fit
| Alternative | Structural difference | Selection trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Adhesive permit label | Face stock, adhesive and release liner. | Useful for a fixed surface; removal and exposure must suit the specific window or panel. |
Sampling & production
Choose a Sample That Answers Your Main Concern
A structural sample, a print proof and a finished sample answer different questions. Confirm the sample scope before approval. Free samples are prepared within 15 days; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.
Structure and material sample
Review material and attachment with the proposed dimensions and component count. Agree whether the sample uses production materials or substitutes. An unprinted construction sample does not approve printed color.
Print and artwork proof
Review representative artwork at finished size on the agreed proof condition. Check permit data. A screen proof cannot establish physical feel or the performance of the finished assembly.
Complete finished sample
Assess display fit, identifier visibility and performance under the specified exposure with the specified components and finishing present. Record the approved revision and any differences to resolve before production.
How to Order Parking Pass
Send your project brief
Send finished width × height in mm; hanger slot or attachment geometry. Specify one permit per unit; versions by zone and validity period. State the number of permits per zone, date range and identifier batch, delivery destination and required arrival date. Tell us which options are undecided.
Compare the quotation
Ask for pricing by permits per zone, date range and identifier batch. Compare the same configuration at each quantity. The quotation should identify materials, finishing, sample scope, packing and freight, plus payment and order terms.
Review the right sample
Choose a sample that can demonstrate display fit, identifier visibility and performance under the specified exposure. Confirm what the free sample includes and any differences from the intended production specification. Preparation is completed within 15 days; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.
Approve the production version
Confirm the specification, file revision and sample decisions in writing. Production scheduling follows the agreed approvals and order release conditions; changes may require a revised quote or schedule.
Confirm packing and delivery
Protect cut slots and corners and separate valid dates or zones. Agree flat packing and counts without deforming the pass's attachment geometry. Agree the destination and shipping arrangement, with production, dispatch and transit dates listed separately.
Details to Confirm in the Quotation
- Order unit and price breaks
- Specify permits per zone, date range and identifier batch. Request the feasible minimum and quantity breaks for that exact configuration; a change of material, version or component count can change the price.
- Sample scope and delivery
- State whether you need a material trial, a print proof or a complete finished sample. Free samples are available, with preparation completed within 15 days. Confirm the included materials and processes; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.
- Approval and schedule
- State the required arrival date and whether versions ship together or to separate destinations. The quote must distinguish sample work, production and transit; a requested date is not a confirmed schedule.
- Packing and identification
- Protect cut slots and corners and separate valid dates or zones. Agree flat packing and counts without deforming the pass's attachment geometry.
- 01
Supply the display dimensions, attachment drawing and zone or date versions. Identify viewing orientation and reserve readable code areas away from the slot and trim.
- 02
Use the PDF/X export preset and output condition confirmed with prepress. Embed fonts and identify the approved file revision.
- 03
Check continuous-tone images at about 300 effective pixels per inch (ppi) at their final placed size. Fine linework can require a different resolution or vector artwork.
- 04
Extend trim artwork by 3 mm unless the approved template specifies otherwise. Keep structural, folding and binding clearances separate from trim bleed.
- 05
Identify named spot colors or physical references and the intended substrate. Agree proof acceptance and keep finishing separations distinct. A screen PDF does not approve printed color.
Engineering & purchasing FAQ
Questions Before Ordering Parking Pass
Can ordinary card stock serve a long-term windshield permit?
Suitability depends on exposure and duration. Describe the actual conditions and compare a representative material sample. Printing a permit does not establish heat, moisture or sunlight resistance.
How should the hanging slot be specified?
Use the actual fixture dimensions and intended orientation, then check insertion and retention on a sample. Keep important dates and identifiers away from cut and attachment areas.
Can a paper hangtag be used as a windshield sticker?
No. A hanging card and an adhesive windshield label use different constructions. Specify the required attachment, surface and removal behavior so the correct format can be assessed.
Which sample should I request first?
Start with the uncertainty that could change the specification: display fit, identifier visibility and performance under the specified exposure. If the concern is physical, request the relevant material or functional sample. If it is print appearance, agree a suitable proof. Confirm the sample scope before approval. Free sample preparation is completed within 15 days; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.
How should I state quantities for a quote?
Use permits per zone, date range and identifier batch. Separate versions and give a delivery destination and required arrival date. This lets the quote distinguish the production quantity, packing and shipping scope.
