The product in use

A narrow printed marker that sits comfortably between pages

A printed bookmark is a narrow card used between pages. Stock stiffness, edge shape and any tassel affect how it sits in the book. A punched attachment hole introduces a separate stress point, while raised or thick decoration can mark delicate pages.

What makes up the finished product?

Marker body
A narrow sheet sits between book pages; stiffness and edge shape affect handling.
Printed surface
The face carries imagery and short text without requiring a thick raised finish.
Optional attachment
A tassel adds a separate hole and attachment point with its own strength requirement.

Coated card

300 or 350 g/m² supplier reference grades

Smooth coated card supports printed illustrations. Equal GSM does not ensure equal thickness, rigidity or opacity.

Sample check: Compare a trimmed sample for stiffness and surface handling.

Uncoated card

White or colored uncoated card

An open surface suits handwriting and a tactile finish. Ink appearance and fine detail change with the surface.

Sample check: Test the intended pen or stamp on the finished surface.

Selected sample focus — Coated card: Compare a trimmed sample for stiffness and surface handling.

Surface finish options

Display panels and printed faces

Compare low-glare film and a brighter gloss alternative under the intended lighting. Check creases, trimming and surface cleaning needs. These options do not establish outdoor durability or waterproof performance.

Inspect the printed and converted format

Keep the reading edge and optional hole durable

Test the stock inside the intended book and keep raised features away from the page contact zone. Define any hole and ribbon attachment separately.

Reading Handouts & Tasseled Keepsakes

Reading handout

Choose stiffness that slides between pages without damaging them.

Tasseled keepsake

Specify the hole, tassel and packed thickness as additional components.

Solve the risk before production

Check Page Impressions & Punched-Hole Strength

The critical finished-product check

A thick or sharp feature can leave an impression on thin pages. Trial the complete bookmark in the actual book and soften or remove problematic details.

A tassel tears its attachment hole

Why it happens: A hole is placed near the edge without enough surrounding material.

Fix and check: Trial the assembled tassel and hole position in the selected card stock.

Bookmarks, Prayer Cards & Postcards

Alternatives to Bookmark Printing
AlternativeUse and trade-off
Prayer Card PrintingA wider keepsake card gives longer text more space but is less suited to marking a narrow page.
Postcard PrintingA mailed card uses a larger message and address layout rather than a page-marker profile.

Sample and approval

Try the Complete Bookmark in the Intended Book

Free samples are available, with preparation completed within 15 days. Confirm the sample scope; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.

Structural sample

Checks dimensions, fit and assembly using unprinted or representative materials. It does not establish final color.

Printed proof

Checks text, image reproduction and artwork on the agreed proof medium. It may not reproduce final assembly or every finish.

Complete finished sample

A converted sample checks the fold, cut, glued edge or other functional feature at full size.

From brief to delivery

Order Details for Bookmark Printing

Build and approve the order in five steps

  1. Send the project brief

Send book size, stock feel, corner shape and ribbon or hole requirements. Include finished dimensions, quantity by version, destination and required arrival date. If a configuration is undecided, describe the intended use.

  2. Compare the quoted configuration

Compare the same quantity basis: complete finished pieces or assembled sets per artwork version. Check that the quote identifies materials, finishing, included components, sample scope, packing and freight.

  3. Approve the appropriate sample

A converted sample checks the fold, cut, glued edge or other functional feature at full size. A print proof checks artwork and color; a complete finished sample also checks assembly. Record what the selected sample does and does not reproduce.

  4. Confirm files and release production

Approve the final artwork revision and the bookmark components specification. Record the agreed quantity, payment conditions, packing and production schedule in the order.

  5. Confirm packing and dispatch

Define pieces per bundle or complete assemblies, component quantities and version labels. Confirm production completion and transit as separate dates, using the delivery destination and required arrival date.

File preparation

Artwork checklist for Bookmark Printing

Artwork and production workflow
  • Identify finished and flat dimensions separately. Supply a print-ready PDF with fonts embedded and cut or fold geometry on separate named layers where needed.
  • Extend edge-to-edge trim artwork by 3 mm unless the approved template specifies a different bleed. Use approximately 300 effective ppi for continuous-tone images at their placed size; keep fine linework as vectors where possible.

Project questions

Planning Bookmark Printing

Are tassels included automatically?

List the tassel as a separate component, including color, quantity and whether it is attached before packing. A punched hole alone does not define the accessory or its assembly.

How should I specify quantities and versions?

Count complete finished pieces or assembled sets per artwork version. State book size, stock feel, corner shape and ribbon or hole requirements; components, language versions and different structures must be listed separately.

What determines the minimum quantity and delivery schedule?

The selected stock, construction, finishing, version count and sample scope determine production planning. Request quantity breaks for the same configuration and an arrival-date plan that separates sampling, manufacturing and transit. No minimum or lead time is implied by the design examples above.
