Illustrative product configuration

Product overview

A focused message in a single-sheet format.

A flyer presents one offer without an opening sequence. Its trim determines whether it works as an insert, a counter handout or a display-rack sheet. Paper mass affects distribution weight; opacity matters when both sides carry dense print. Keep the headline, benefit and response action visible together, with supporting details on the reverse rather than shrinking every element.

01

Immediate reading

A clear headline, image and response detail let the handout communicate quickly.

02

Lightweight distribution

A flat sheet suits counter pickup, inserts and campaign distribution without a folding sequence.

03

Size by placement

The trim determines how much information fits and how the flyer sits in its intended holder or pack.

Specifications & materials

Match the Flyer Size and Paper to Distribution

Start with finished width × height in mm and orientation. Then compare the material and construction choices below.

Use these options to prepare your specification. Material grades, weights, thicknesses and feasible dimensions are confirmed for the quoted construction. A paper weight is not a finished thickness or a strength rating.

Surface finish options

Printed sheet surfaces

Choose the sheen around viewing light and folding. A coating and a bonded film are different routes; confirm fold behavior, color and any writing area on the finished stock rather than assuming every sheet needs lamination.

01 / SELECTION CHECK

Control the campaign version

Identify the offer, expiry, language and response destination in each approved file. If a QR code or short URL is used, test the actual campaign target before release.

02 / SELECTION CHECK

Choose stock for distribution

A light insert and a repeatedly handled counter piece have different requirements. Compare stiffness and surface with the intended placement, and inspect small terms at final size.

For a message displayed on a wall rather than held in the hand, compare poster printing for larger displays. Viewing distance changes the type size and image detail needed; the display method also changes the finished format and packing plan.

Campaign sheet planning

Match the sheet size and message to how the flyer will be distributed

Flyers are read quickly at a counter, event or mailbox. A focused headline, one primary offer and a visible response path usually work better than shrinking every campaign detail onto one sheet.

Compare dimensions and usable space

Published reference formats with their selection notes.

  • A6: 105 × 148 mm. A compact insert or handout; put the offer and response action together without shrinking the conditions.
  • A5: 148 × 210 mm. More space for one promotional image plus supporting details; check rack or envelope fit.
  • A4: 210 × 297 mm. A larger handout face suits a short offer with more supporting information; paper mass affects distribution weight.

Select the material by its finished behavior

Coated paper favors crisp image reproduction; uncoated paper is more convenient for annotation. Sappi Magno Satin lists 115, 170 and 250 g/m² as examples of coated grades. These are supplier reference choices, not a Lemon stock list; compare opacity and stiffness on the selected grade.

Production checks that prevent avoidable rework

Design for a fast scan

Give the headline, offer and action distinct hierarchy. Keep dates, eligibility and contact details readable at the finished size.

Check image resolution at final dimensions

Evaluate placed images at their effective output size, not just their pixel dimensions in a layout file. Avoid enlarging low-resolution images beyond their usable detail.

Verify campaign details and tracking

Proof dates, codes, URLs and QR destinations against the approved campaign brief. Use a final printed sample to check small text, contrast and any full-bleed edge.

Use-case selection

Choose a configuration for the job it has to do

Event handout

Put venue, date, access and the next action where a visitor can scan them quickly.

Trade-off: Late event changes may make printed stock unusable.

Retail promotion

Give the offer terms, valid dates and exclusions a clear, legible location.

Trade-off: Large discount callouts still need enough space for conditions.

Direct-mail campaign

Choose a format that fits the envelope or mailing specification and include a trackable response route.

Trade-off: Postal size and weight limits depend on the destination service.

Problem → cause → solution

Resolve the failure points before production

Reverse artwork distracts from the headline

Why it happens: Dense ink coverage shows through a low-opacity sheet.

How to prevent it: Proof both faces on the chosen grade and compare opacity, coverage and lighting before adding weight as the only fix.

The response code fails on the printed piece

Why it happens: The code is too small, low contrast or crowded by decoration.

How to prevent it: Preserve the symbol’s required quiet zone and test the final-size printed code with the intended devices and destination.

Sampling & production

Choose a Sample That Answers Your Main Concern

A structural sample, a print proof and a finished sample answer different questions. Confirm the sample scope before approval. Free samples are prepared within 15 days; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.

Structure and material sample

Review paper and print sides with the proposed dimensions and component count. Agree whether the sample uses production materials or substitutes. An unprinted construction sample does not approve printed color.

Print and artwork proof

Review representative artwork at finished size on the agreed proof condition. Check fine detail and important colors. A screen proof cannot establish physical feel or the performance of the finished assembly.

Complete finished sample

Assess offer dates, contact details and readability at handout size with the specified components and finishing present. Record the approved revision and any differences to resolve before production.

How to Order Flyer

  1. Send your project brief

Send finished width × height in mm and orientation. Specify single sheet; one or two printed sides. State the number of flyers per offer, language and delivery location, delivery destination and required arrival date. Tell us which options are undecided.

  2. Compare the quotation

Ask for pricing by flyers per offer, language and delivery location. Compare the same configuration at each quantity. The quotation should identify materials, finishing, sample scope, packing and freight, plus payment and order terms.

  3. Review the right sample

Choose a sample that can demonstrate offer dates, contact details and readability at handout size. Confirm what the free sample includes and any differences from the intended production specification. Preparation is completed within 15 days; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.

  4. Approve the production version

Confirm the specification, file revision and sample decisions in writing. Production scheduling follows the agreed approvals and order release conditions; changes may require a revised quote or schedule.

  5. Confirm packing and delivery

Keep flat bundles square and protect corners. Label language, offer and campaign revisions with the agreed piece count. Agree the destination and shipping arrangement, with production, dispatch and transit dates listed separately.

Details to Confirm in the Quotation

Order unit and price breaks
Specify flyers per offer, language and delivery location. Request the feasible minimum and quantity breaks for that exact configuration; a change of material, version or component count can change the price.
Sample scope and delivery
State whether you need a material trial, a print proof or a complete finished sample. Free samples are available, with preparation completed within 15 days. Confirm the included materials and processes; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.
Approval and schedule
State the required arrival date and whether versions ship together or to separate destinations. The quote must distinguish sample work, production and transit; a requested date is not a confirmed schedule.
Packing and identification
Keep flat bundles square and protect corners. Label language, offer and campaign revisions with the agreed piece count.

Artwork essentials

Prepare Files for the Confirmed Flyer Format

Review artwork guidelines
  1. 01

Provide final front and reverse files for each campaign version. Include readable terms, confirmed response links and trim bleed without moving content outside the safety area.

  2. 02

Use the PDF/X export preset and output condition confirmed with prepress. Embed fonts and identify the approved file revision.

  3. 03

Check continuous-tone images at about 300 effective pixels per inch (ppi) at their final placed size. Fine linework can require a different resolution or vector artwork.

  4. 04

Extend trim artwork by 3 mm unless the approved template specifies otherwise. Keep structural, folding and binding clearances separate from trim bleed.

  5. 05

Identify named spot colors or physical references and the intended substrate. Agree proof acceptance and keep finishing separations distinct. A screen PDF does not approve printed color.

Engineering & purchasing FAQ

Questions Before Ordering Flyer

Should a flyer always use the heaviest paper?

No. Its use may call for a flexible insert or a stiffer counter handout. Compare the actual stock and format with distribution, legibility and pack weight rather than choosing GSM as a quality label.

How do we handle regional offers?

Give each market or language version an identifier, approved terms and quantity. Test response links and match the same version list to bundles so an otherwise correct flyer reaches the intended audience.

Which sample should I request first?

Start with the uncertainty that could change the specification: offer dates, contact details and readability at handout size. If the concern is physical, request the relevant material or functional sample. If it is print appearance, agree a suitable proof. Confirm the sample scope before approval. Free sample preparation is completed within 15 days; courier arrangements and transit time are separate.

How should I state quantities for a quote?

Use flyers per offer, language and delivery location. Separate versions and give a delivery destination and required arrival date. This lets the quote distinguish the production quantity, packing and shipping scope.
